Atkinson Architects consider the landscape context and garden design of equal importance to the buildings themselves. Our holistic approach to design seeks to retain the existing landscape character of a place – enhancing it with new planting that is appropriate for the climate.
The broad range of locations we have worked on throughout the South West each have their own specific landscape qualities – robust barns and farmsteads, formal villa and manor house gardens, compact townhouse walled gardens and tranquil river settings.
Each location is carefully assessed for the environmental and visual benefits that the landscape offers – this is then integrated into all our architectural design solutions.
We believe in minimal impact on mature landscapes, hedges and trees as the most sustainable and bio-diverse principle.
