Atkinson Architects were delighted to be announced as winners of the LABC Awards in mid-August.
This notable award focussed on his skill and experience balancing listed building sensitivities alongside the requirements of current Building Regulations. At times these are not happy bedfellows – proving very difficult to reconcile the character of historic building structures with 2024 expectations for insulation, environmental comfort, stability and sustainability.
It is worthy recognition of Dave’s contribution to the practice where he has successfully worked on hundreds of listed buildings across the South West.

This fantastic project on a spectacular World Heritage Ancient Monument Site had some very complex construction details due to the proximity of the tidal river water levels and the previous condition of the 18th century stone lock keepers cottage that had become prone to significant flooding.
Taking conceptual design ideas through to construction with beautiful detailing is an aspect of our practice work we are very proud of.
