Sustainability through salvage

Atkinson Architects advocate the salvage of all good quality natural materials – keeping them on-site for re-use wherever possible as an integral part of new design.

This sound approach to conservation also helps to minimise the environmental impact and costs related to building work.

Finding a positive use for this mature English Oak, sadly uprooted and felled during winter storms. Sawn and seasoned on our site in Dartmoor National Park. This beautiful oak will become the facade and structure for a new building located just a few metres from where the tree once grew.
