Atkinson Architects enjoyed a breathtaking winter’s day visiting one of our remote Dartmoor projects at Ditsworthy Warren.
The iconic and remote Grade II Listed group of structures consist of; a cottage, enclosed warren, stables and kennel paddock. We have full consent in place for the renovation of this precious building which is one of southwest Dartmoor’s most notable reference points.
Ditsworthy Warren and the 53 pillow mounds date from at least the 15th Century with the main 18th Century granite building structures remaining largely intact.
It was permanently inhabited by the Ware family until 1947, as a working rabbit warren. The location was also the focal point for Steven Spielberg’s film ‘War Horse’ filmed in 2010.
Atkinson Architects work closely with the Maristow Estate owners to protect the longevity of this remote landmark which is beautiful at all times of the year, especially on snowy January days!
