St Leonards Hotel, Shoreditch, London

New Hotel & Renovated Victorian Pub

The Shoreditch Inn is a sixteen suite independent city-break hotel set in the Hackney Conservation Area. The site addresses the church gardens belonging to St.Leonard's Church - designed in 1740 by George Dance The Elder.

Our project is an urban scale, mixed-use development consisting of a new hotel wing, restored pub, The George & Dragon with interconnected guest rooms and a ground-floor gastropub.

The Victorian pub occupies an angular corner site and the whole building has been gutted with a retained, Grade II Listed facade. The new wing along Austin Street is designed in a contemporary manner with proportions and articulation based on the adjacent pub.

The palette of materials; London clay stock bricks, stucco, painted cornices and Portland stone were chosen to reflect those used on the church.
