Conversion of Barns
The hamlet of Maristow Barton is set within the Tamar Valley AONB and is the meeting place for the shoot and farm tasks. We have restored three derelict barns grouped around a courtyard with an old orchard garden behind to make a new four bedroom home for the estate gamekeeper family.
A fine trio of agricultural buildings from the mid 18th century - a threshing barn, stables and farm store have been carefully converted to modern environmental standards with sustainable drainage, low energy systems and wood fuelled boilers hidden across the site. Waterproof tanking, retaining structures and large openings in old walls have been formed to stabilise the derelict barns.
A new extension and internal stair links two of the barns with designated areas for the Gamekeeper, gun rooms, estate HQ and equipment facilities.
Traditional West Devon stone walling, vertical slate hanging, salvaged granite setts and pillars create a sympathetic courtyard space and garden.
