Grade II Listed Thatched Cottages & Contemporary Low Energy Dwelling
Long Park Cottages, located on the East Portlemouth Estuary and AONB are a terrace of four, traditional early 19th century thatched dwellings that have been restored and modernised. A new wing to the east is a contrasting, contemporary building designed and constructed as a low energy Passive House certified dwelling of the highest environmental standards.
The form and design of the new wing was developed to respect neighbouring views, daylight and characteristics of the old cottages. Copper, larch hardwood and local schist stone blend with the restored Devon thatch and lime cobb walls.
Surrounding steeply sloped gardens have been landscaped and terraced to optimise the different woodland and coastal aspects with sheltered outdoor gardens giving onto panoramic views across to Salcombe.
