Hele Farm, Bickleigh, Devon

Grade II Listed Farmhouse, Barns Conversion & Repair

Located on the southern fringes of Dartmoor, Hele Farm is a working environment as part of The Maristow Estate. We have completely restored two, grade II listed barns and the main farmhouse that was on the Historic England 'At Risk' register due to their perilously dangerous condition.

Major strengthening of the barn walls with structural pinning is all concealed behind newly pointed stone walls. A new intermediate wood and steel floor acts to brace the whole barn enclosure and separate livestock from the lambswool stores.

Architectural details, putlogs, pigeon roosts, timber trusses have been meticulously restored using salvaged materials throughout to ensure the completed barns nestle sympathetically with the neighbouring farmhouse.

Artisan builders and craftsmen were employed to carry out such delicate and time-consuming repair works.

The buildings are now removed from the 'At Risk' register and their long term working future secured.
